Career Exploration:

UNLV Career Services and Student Affairs Partnership

UNLV's Career Services and Student Affairs partner to offer an "Entertainment Careers" workshop designed to help students explore career opportunities in fields such as film, television, sports, and music. The workshop is part of UNLV's initiatives and aims to provide resources and guidance for students interested in pursuing careers in the entertainment industry. Student participants are given an opportunity to attend a live festival to learn how the business operates as well as a backstage pass the day of the event.

Justice Impacted Program

Some UNLV students face societal barriers as a result of their interaction with the criminal justice system. Having an arrest, criminal charge, or record of conviction can impact career and educational opportunities. UNLV is dedicated to providing guidance and support services that enhance the academic experience from orientation to graduation and beyond. Rebel Rebound helps justice-impacted students by serving as a resource and point of contact.

 

​The program typically offers resources such as:

  1. Academic Support: Assistance with enrolling in and completing academic programs.

  2. Career Development: Job readiness and career counseling services.

  3. Counseling and Support Services: Emotional and psychological support to navigate the challenges of reentry and academic life.

  4. Community Engagement: Opportunities for advocacy and community service.

The Student Emergency Fund

The Student Emergency Fund at UNLV is designed to provide financial assistance to students facing unexpected hardships or emergencies that could impact their ability to continue their education. Roughly $50 students are given assistance during the academic year.

 

This fund can help cover various needs, such as:​

  • Medical Expenses: Unforeseen medical costs that aren't covered by insurance.

  • Housing Costs: Unexpected rent or utility expenses.

  • Travel Costs: Emergency travel related to family issues or other urgent situations.

  • Academic Supplies: Unexpected costs for books or other necessary supplies.

 

Recipients also participate in a mandatory financial literacy workshop. This initiative is made possible through CitiBank.
